Terms of Use

The short version

  • Backed gives general information, not legal advice. Always check dates against your receipt and policy.
  • Reminders depend on your device; don't rely on Backed as your only record.
  • Your data stays with you. We can't restore it, so keep iCloud sync or exports on.
  • Pro is billed by Apple and can be cancelled anytime in your Apple Account settings.

1. Agreement

By downloading or using Backed you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). If these Terms and the Standard EULA conflict, the Standard EULA applies to the extent required by Apple.

2. What Backed does

Backed helps you store receipts and track return windows, manufacturer warranties, extended warranties and legal guarantee periods, reminds you before they end, and can draft claim emails for you to send.

  • Backed shows general information about consumer rules in some regions (for example, the EU minimum 2-year legal guarantee, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, Turkish Law No. 6502, and the absence of a general statutory guarantee period in the US). This information is simplified, may not cover your country, product, or situation, and may change.
  • Backed is not legal advice and doesn't create a lawyer-client relationship. Whether a product is covered depends on the law, the seller's and manufacturer's terms, and the facts. Check with the seller, the manufacturer, a consumer organisation or a lawyer before relying on it.
  • "Covered", "Still covered", "Expired" and similar labels are estimates based on dates you entered or confirmed.

4. Your responsibility for data

  • Automatic extraction from receipts can be wrong. Please check the extracted store, date, items and prices before saving.
  • Default periods (for example, a typical 30-day return window or 1-year manufacturer warranty) are suggestions. Edit them to match your receipt, policy or warranty card.
  • Keep original receipts or invoices where a seller or manufacturer may require them.
  • Your data is stored on your device and, if enabled, in your iCloud. We don't have a copy and can't restore lost data. Use iCloud sync or exports for backup.

5. Reminders

We aim to deliver reminders on time, but notifications depend on your device settings, iOS, and other factors outside our control. Don't rely on Backed as your only record of important deadlines.

6. Free version, Backed Pro and payments

  • The free version lets you track a limited number of items (currently 10) with reminders.
  • Backed Pro unlocks additional features, such as unlimited items, the claim assistant, family sharing, PDF export and widget themes. Features may change over time; we won't remove a core paid feature without reasonable notice.
  • Pro is available as a yearly auto-renewing subscription (which may include a free trial) or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com).
  • "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer and support the app on the App Store.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Backed to break the law, to create false receipts or claims, or to infringe others' rights. Don't reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.

8. Third parties

Backed links to manufacturer and retailer websites and uses Apple services (iCloud, Siri, App Store). We aren't responsible for third-party services, content, or how a seller or manufacturer handles your claim.

9. Intellectual property

The app, its design and content belong to us or our licensors. You keep all rights to the content you add.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", to the extent the law allows. We aren't liable for losses caused by missed deadlines, incorrect extraction or dates, rejected claims, or data loss, except where the law doesn't allow this limitation.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be excluded by law, including statutory rights in the EU, UK and Türkiye, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or gross negligence and wilful misconduct.

11. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or in release notes. You can stop using Backed at any time by deleting it.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where Sintios is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring claims in your local courts.
